Exploring the affect of light and shadow within a space, this subterranean pavilion creates an immersive environment allowing users to observe how the space changes through the day. Designed to be a stationary space for gathering, users walk down into the space to become encapsulated by their surroundings and are welcomed by multi-layered seating, allowing for multiple perspectives to observe the space. Multiple transparencies allow for varying degrees of light and shadow, from full exposure, to hard shadows, to a soft glow. A warm wood structure compliments the warmth of the sun, creating a cozy environment encouraging users to stay and fully experience the space.
